Buy Ontario Procurement Directive
The Province of Ontario has introduced the Buy Ontario Procurement Directive, effective April 13, 2026. The Directive brings together several provincial procurement policies into a single framework designed to support Ontario businesses, strengthen domestic supply chains, and advance strategic procurement objectives.
The Directive consolidates the following key procurement requirements:
Building Ontario Businesses Initiative Act (BOBIA)
Prioritize Ontario businesses when sourcing goods and services to support regional economic development in accordance with provincial requirements.
Procurement Restriction Policy
Restrictions on U.S. business engagement. Exceptions allowed only when no viable Ontario or Canadian alternatives exist.
Made-in-Ontario Light-Duty Fleet Vehicles
Prioritize Made-in-Ontario vehicles when purchasing or leasing any light-duty fleet vehicles to support the automotive manufacturing sector.
